3 Days in Michigan

Journal Entry for 18 Feb 2006
From Heri Poh

Hi everybody at POH (and anyone else who's reading this!) - it's Heri-Poh here again.

Well I have been in Michigan for three days now and would you believe all the snow is gone! I may have to go to Alaska next to play in that stuff.

I have been very busy. As reported last I had a white creature approaching me at the table on my arrival. Turns out it's a pretty nice lady cat named Frosty. I have also made friends with a very large dog, named Max.

I attended fourth grade on Valentines Day and had a lot of fun at their party. I was welcomed by all, asked a lot of questions and read my journal. I met a good friend of Danielle's (Monica is her name) who wanted to take me home.

I went shopping for some new clothes, as the weather here has been cold all week. Tonight it is 17 degrees. I met a very nice lady at Joann Fabrics who happened to have two sweaters at home that she left for me the next day at the store. I found a hat that I had Regina make smaller for our trip to Disneyworld and found some glasses to protect my eyes.

Today I went to work in a bowling center snack bar with Regina. It was a lot of work but loads of fun too. There was a very nice lady there who is 99 and still bowls every week. Everyone I met thought I was adorable.

I was able to help mix cheese, make cookies, and take orders.

Check out the photos Regina took so I could share this part of my new adventures with you!

I tried to make a pizza but it landed on my head and I had to be rescued. Sorry no picture of that one.

Everyone here just finished packing all their things for the trip. I have my own travel box to keep me safe in the car, my sweaters, hat, scarf, and of course my journal and lots of film for pictures. We are leaving very early in the morning. So until I can write again everyone have a good week.

Love, Heri-Poh

I'm in Michigan! :)

Journal Entry for 14 Feb 2006
From Heri Poh

Hi everyone, I arrived this afternoon at the home of Mark and Regina in Redford, Michigan. What better thing to do on Valentine's Day but arrive at the next POH member's home and hug more new friends?

It's a little chillier here - about 35 degrees. There's a little snow on the ground I hope to go experience later today. But the sun is out so it may disappear real soon. I heard that it snowed a lot back in Massachusetts just as I was traveling from there to here - so I missed it!

Right now I'm on my way to Danielle's school for her Valentine Party!!!

Gotta Go. There's a strange white four legged creature on the table coming toward me!! I hope it's friendly!

Talk you all soon.
Love Heri-Poh

Wheeee! I'm traveling again!

Journal Entry for 12 Feb 2006
From Heri Poh

WOW! I'm off and running again! Laurie packed me up "snug as a bug" yesterday and sent me off to the west to my next POH hostess.

I've heard that I'm headed for Michigan and that there's some sort of trip planned after I get there! Guess everyone wanted me to get there licketdy-split, so here I am in the hands of the U.S. Postal Service. Must say they've handled me very well so far. No big bumps - so I get to write this for you folks as I travel along. There are lots of miles between Massachusetts and Michigan, yet I seem to be traveling very fast

Have to say a huge thank you to Laurie and her family. They sure treated me like I was a part of their family during my stay there. It was great! :)

Who knows what the rest of this journey will be like - but I can already tell you this: meeting new people is both interesting and fun!

I'll let you folks know when I've landed in Michigan.

Heri Escapes Snow!

Does Heri Poh possess magic powers? That seems to be the question on Laurie's mind in Massachusetts and now on ours as we learn the news. Let's turn to Laurie to hear what all this is about.

Luck? Magic powers? Or just co-incidence? You be the judge. I'll share some facts about Heri Poh and snow - then let you decide for yourself!

  • The day Heri arrived, it was 51 degrees and the remaining snow from the last storm was a puddle of mess NOTE: that was back on Jan 29th when Heri arrived in MA from Oregon.
  • From then - to now, Feb 11th - we've had no snow
  • Today - the day I need to mail Heri out - we are slated to get 14 inches!
  • I know he is slated for Michigan next, so hope Michigan has some snow so we can get one good picture of Heri in the snow.

Maybe Heri Poh is a good luck icon for no snow. Hmmmm ... maybe I should keep him in Massachusetts for good!!!!!

  • Another week in MA

Heri Poh here. Have another whole week to tell you folks about! My MA hostess Laurie and her family have kept lists of things we've done and taken more photos, so think I'll turn this one over to Laurie to share my adventures! But I'll say for myself I'm having the time of my life!

Heri has had a fun time visiting us! Our whole family has enjoyed his stay with us and will be sad to send him off this afternoon to his next destination. He will be traveling first class (priority mail) to his next destination, so be on the lookout Michigan!

Here are some of the cool things we have done together as a family.

Well before that? Heri wants me to share one of his favorite things with you. Eating! He loves his noodles!

Ok, now on with the list of things we've been doing:

  • Celebrated Asian New Year
  • Gone to Sunday Mass
  • Met our Pediatrician (ear infection for one son)
  • Met the Grandparents
  • Gone to work with Mommy
  • Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Kept Mommy company while she scrapped
  • Went to the Children's Museum with Auntie & Uncle

Here's what I call Heri Poh the Baker. He sure loves cookies! :)

Want to tell you about Heri's magic powers, but will come back in a new journal entry to do that!

  • Early February in MA

Heri Poh here. Like I said, want to get you folks caught up on what I've been seeing and doing. I peeked in Laurie's stuff and found she had some journal entries and photos to share. So, here's something from early Feb. Enjoy! Heri.

It has been a fun week here in Massachusetts! Heri is adjusting well. Let me tell you about this week.

  • We went out to eat on Sunday to celebrate Asian New Year. Heri loved the Buffet and I taught him to use chopsticks! I think I need to get him a smaller set though!
  • The boys have adopted him as their new special friend!
  • Heri has gone on many rides in their dump trucks and my Alex built him a house made of legos.
  • Heri went to the market with me on Wednesday and on Thursday the boys took him to the library. The librarian thought he was a cool bear :) Of course I heartily agreed!

I'll leave you for this time with a pic of Heri with my youngest son Noah. Noah loves Heri and calls him "Little Bear" like the TV character!
  • Time is Flying!

Hi everyone! Heri Poh here. Time is flying by!

So much has been happening over the last 2 weeks, I hardly know where to begin! I've now met Vicki, Laurie and Regina - and their families - and I just have two things to say:

  • You Preserving_Our_Heritage people sure are nice, friendly folks!
  • I have no idea how you find time to work on finding and preserving your heritage when you have so much in your lives right now. You've sure made me feel welcome in your homes and lives, so guess it's no wonder you welcome your ancestors into your lives in the same way!

I wish all of you could have been sitting on my shoulder - seeing all the things I've seen. Sure is better than all those months I just sat on a store shelf!

So, I'll try to give back to you all by telling you some stories of the last couple of weeks. My hostesses have even had me <posing for photos so I'll share some of those too.

And with that? On with more life journal entries to share my travels and adventures with you!

    Affectionately,
    Heri Poh

    Heri Arrives in Massachusetts!

Journal Entry from 29 January 2006
    From Laurie
    Location - Massachusetts

    Hello Ladies!

I just wanted to drop a line to let you all know Heri made it safely to Massachusetts!

Vicki packaged him oh so warmly and safely! He has been a courteous houseguest thus far and we have lots of fun plans for him.

Heri wanted to go fishing, but I explained the ponds here are frozen. It took a lot of coaxing to get him out of the rowboat! We went for a walk this morning and I had to find a warm coat, hat and scarf so he would not catch cold.

Tonight we are going out to eat at a Chinese Restaurant to celebrate Asian New Year! Heri was disappointed to learn it was the Year of the Dog and not the Year of the Bear...

I hope you enjoy the picture I have attached...doesn't Heri look dapper???

I will post again soon :)

A kid and an important question

Journal Entry later on 27 Jan 2006
    From Laurie
    Location - Massachusetts

I will update the group when Heri arrives in Massachusetts!

I told my two boys we will be hosting Heri for a visit.

My oldest (age 3) asked me if Heri liked Grilled Cheese Sandwiches....I told him we will have to wait and see!

    Heri Poh hits the road!

Journal Entry for 27 Jan 2006
    From Vicki - aka "Mizviki"!
    Location - Oregon

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I gave Heri a hug and sent him on his way this afternoon. He's heading for Massachusetts to spend time with Laurie and her family. I knew he'd end up a bit chilly on the way, so he's wearing his scarf I made. I understand they have snow there.

    Note to Laurie,
The hardest part of having Heri around is his ability to get lost. (Or, maybe he was hiding from me...hmmm) I finally decided to put him on top of my computer monitor so I could keep a good eye on him!
